finger lakes beaches and resorts for families

We are planning on travelling late August with a budget of 2000 per week. We would prefer a resort/rental in the Finger Lakes with some activities for the children-pool, outside play area (ages 4,7). We are also wondering if there are many sandy beaches in the area. Thanks in advance.

Well, there is the Inn on the Lake on Canandaigua lake, not sure how much it costs though. There is also a nice sandy beach on Canandaigua lake somewhere, I've been there before. It's really nice. There is also Sandybottom park on Honeoye Lake. It has a smaller sandy beach, but it is really nice because it has a playground, you can fish, it has a raft out in the deep water to jump off of, a pavilion with picnic tables, nature trails, etc. The seaweed kinda takes over some of the water there though. The only downfall.

Look at Bristol Harbour Resort on Canandaigua Lake.

As for the amenities for kids at the Canandaigua Inn on the Lake, I'm not certain, but it's a very short walk to Kershaw Park, like 5 minutes or so. I also think they rent paddleboats at the marina across the street from the inn.

The finger lakes tend not to have sandy beaches. That said, the small beach at the north end of Canandaigua Lake - in Kershaw Park - is sandy. If you want a more ocean-like experience, you have to go north to Lake Ontario. Our favorite in that area is Fairhaven Beach State Park. It's big, very sandy, and if you go when the wind is from the north, you can enjoy some big waves.
