skiing Taos with family

Planning on coming to Taos to ski for spring break. There are two families and we are looking to stay together in a house or condos. Cleanliness is very important to us--we want quality. Not sure if we are staying in town or at the ski valley.

Does anyone have any suggestions on lodging for 8 (4 adults and 4 kids)?

Thank you.

Yes, try Red River area or Colorado. Taos is a real bummer. Wold Creek just over the CO boarder boasts the most powder in all of CO! Worth a trip!

The only thing I would inject is that Taos Ski Valley is kind of old school and doesn't allow snowboarders on its slopes.

If any number of you are primarily snowboarders versus long ski skiers, I'd take that into account when choosing where to stay.

Ooops! Wolf Creek that is, and the snowboard thing is immoral. Free Taos! : )

Taos is a great area if there's snow and it's looking like a fab year in 2006/7. The ski school is excellent - much better than Wolf Creek, red river, angel fire or Santa Fe - especially for kids. But yes, no snowboarders which can bum out some... but for the rest of us, it's primo bumps and not pushed off snow. Lodging: We last stayed at a house at the entrance to the ski valley listed as the "Beautiful house" on the website for rentmyhouseintaos and it was very clean and charming with lots of open space. We stayed there with 3 adults and 5 kids and it worked well for us but check it out for yourself... the couple that owned it were very easy to deal with and very nice. We liked the location between the ski valley and the town as we had easy access to both. The ski valley itself is a bit small with limited restaurants and the town is a bit of a drive if you're trying to get to the mtn in time for ski school! Good luck!
