Room Selection at Boulders

Does anyone have a suggestion as to which two room numbers I should request at Boulders?

Boulders Beach is a Penguin area. Where will you be staying?

Difficult to say, as there are only nine rooms, or more accurately rondavels, and I've only been in two (stayed in one and briefly visited one). Ours was the one closest to the lodge itself (I guess #1, as we never referred to it by number). From the outside, the others seemed generally similar with minor layout differences. From the inside, the other one we were in was decorated slightly differently.

Being closer to the lodge is a slight advantage, because there is maybe 80 yards less to walk each way. There were no noise or privacy issues with our rondavel, other than the noise from a hippo in the river below at night. The stone wall on our terrace shielded the view from the lodge when we were in the plunge pool or using the outdoor shower (we had to try it at least once!).

Our rondavel was oriented so that there was a panoramic view of the bush area beyond the river. Whether any of the other rondavels down the row had obstructed views because of the adjacent structures, I can't accurately say, but I would guess each is oriented for a good view.

Remember that there is no fence, and animals enter the camp and walk along the path to the rondavels, which are arranged in a row. We actually saw a lion in camp, and also saw damage to a tree outside our rondavel from an elephant that was there while we were away. That's why an armed guide comes to your door to escort you to the lodge during non-daylight hours.

I can say that we were very satisfied with our accomodations and view.
