Spring Break, a.k.a. "The Texas Invasion" in New Mexico, is one of our resorts' busiest times. Ruidoso, being the closest ski area (and mountains) for the majority in the Lone Star State has been popular for decades.
The Inn of the Mountain Gods, just 4 miles SW of Ruidoso is a beautiful facility, with adjoining Casino if you are feeling lucky. Downtown Ruidoso (one main street) offers numerous restaurants, and shops.
Skiing takes place at Ski Apache, located approximately 18 miles northwest of Ruidoso.
Horseback riding is convenient in the area, but I do not know which stables would be open at the Spring Break time of the year, and not just in Summer.
This webpage will provide you with mucho information, including horseback riding. We've had good reviews of the Cowboys Stable, a few miles east of Ruidoso Downs on the US highway. I would check with them first...they may have a website.
Enjoy your visit, and have a safe trip from Eagle Pass.
