Headed to Seaside Heights in April

Are there enough things open to visit? Also looking for places to go see, willing to drive up to 90 minutes. Coming with my 15 year old daughter. Need advice!

What is your reason for going to Seaside? It is too early for the beach and ocean. What do you want to do there? What are your interests? It is hard to recommend anything unless we know a little more about you.

Well my daughter wants to see the whole Jersey stuff...we are planning going to Carlos bakery, seeing the Jersey Shore house, seinging by Gatsby Salon, going into NYC (although not yet sure what besides Times Square) visiting a couple cheerleading gyms (big cheer family) and maybe drive down to Atlantic city area. I realize some of that us just 'seeing' and I know it's too cold for beach and stuff but she can say she's been there. I am looking for cool thing a teenager would like to See or do. Obviously TV has played a part in our trip.

I just wrote a long reply to you but deleted it. Sorry, but I have no suggestions. This type of trip is incomprehensible to me, so my comments are better off deleted.

Not much is open in April. For what you want to do, it isn't worth the trip.

Carlo's Bakery and Gatsby's are both in the northern part of NJ. If you are intent on going there, roll that in with your trip NYC. As a NJ native, I wish there was some way to convince you that the TV sites you are planning to visit will be a disappointing waste of time. Trust me, you are better off spending time in NYC, or visiting a true iconic symbol such as the Statue of Liberty. If your daughter is determined to see the "Jersey Shore House", make that a side trip on your way from NY to Atlantic City. Be prepared for major disappointment. Atlantic City has it's own goods to offer, but not much for a teenager. You could stroll the famous Boardwalk, take in an Imax movie, and visit any spas in the casino hotels. The Revel is a $2B resort complex that just opened this week. If you can get a reservation, she might enjoy a day at the in/out pool (open year-round). If you don't want to stay in Atlantic City, continue south to Cape May, a charming victorian town with awesome B&Bs. I would also suggest a day in Philadelphia, if you're at all interested in US History, or to visit the Art Museum or Franklin Institute. Seriously, the fact that tourists from Europe are coming all the way to NJ just to visit the locations they see on reality TV is practically tragic! I hope you enjoy yourself but please do not miss out on the best we have to offer!!

Have fun, LuvBreezes

>>and I know it's too cold for beach and stuff<< I suggest you at least take a walk along the beach. Maybe you can find some stuff beachcombing. You may find sandglass or seaglass or beachglass or whatever you prefer to call it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_glass

not sure you are really central to anything but my brother just bought in island heights which is just across the bridge so have spent a little time there. We visited Tom's River which has some cute downtown areas. Other times we have visited Red Bank which has some nice areas to walk/around shop. Would they be high on my list of the best places in on the east coast- probably not. Worth visiting cause we are in the area but wouldn't make it a special trip. Seaside heights will be quiet but walks on the beach are great anytime.

So long as you know what you are getting into with weather and driving to other places, then go for it.

Everything is open in Seaside now. Its the time to get half price tickets for the water park and rides. This lasts all Easter weekend. The boardwalk is packed with people. I suggest going to Steaks unlimted 2 and getting a seaside tony! lots of people walking on the beach, rides are open, and its great weather. Whenever anyone i know comes to visit me (i live north of seaside) the younger kids want to see the jersey shore house so i drive them by it. you can see people there at all hours standing in front of the house taking pictures.
