Two relatively inexpensive methods. The monorail from the airport to the NJ Transit train to Princeton Junction. Then the Dinky from Princeton Junction to Princeton. You arrive across the street from MaCarter Theatre and can walk up to Nassau Street. Check

FYI - If you're really new to the area, you might need to know that the Dinky is known as the Princeton Shuttle on the NJ Transit schedules (but to just about everyone else, it's "the Dinky" -- when you see it, you'll understand).
