Hello !

We will be in Ocean Grove in july, and we stay at the Lillagaard.

The B&B looks great, close to the beach !

Anyone who has allready stayed there and how was it ?

Thanks in advance,

Stephanie

Stephanie--

You will love the Lillagaard and you will love Ocean Grove. A unique and charming victorian town with a Christian influence. It's the NJ shore at it's best! Miles of boardwalk to walk. The inn is in a great location. Have fun!

If you can't find a bike rental in O.G. you can walk north on the boardwalk and rent one in Asbury Park. Some of the B&B's in O.G. have bikes available for their guests.

Ocean Grove is very small...one square mile. The main attraction of course is the beach and boardwalk. You can walk for miles and miles on the "boards". There is a large auditorium in town which has religous services and family entertainment in the summer. You can check on line to see what is being offered while you are there.

As far as near by activites. It all depends on your interests. Point Pleasant has an interesting boardwalk with restaurants, games, rides, etc. which is fun.

www.pointpleasantbeach.com/boardwalk.htm

Asbury Park has a lively music scene with clubs, etc.

Do you like amusement parks? Six Flags Great Adventure is about 45 minutes away.

Will you have a car? Let me know about your interests and I can make suggestions

Hi again SusieQQ,

We won't have a car while staying in NJ.

But we will rent a bicycle.

Point Pleasant sounds like a good idea.

We are 2 people in their mid 30's (no children) and we LOVE music, so visiting The Stone Pony is on our list for sure !!

The place where you are from (Loch Arbour), is that far from Ocean Grove ? If not,is it worth a visit ?

Loch Arbour is across Asbury Park from Ocean Grove, to the north --- OG, then Wesley Lake, then AP, then Deal Lake, then Loch Arbour, which is 4 blocks by 2 blocks of houses -- one restaurant/bar and a couple of small businesses are at the west edge. I grew up there & my sister lives there today. Except for the beach, there is not a lot for a tourist to do there. And Ocean Grove has a much larger one which is of course closer to where you are staying!

Check out the schedule of concerts & such at the Great Auditorium in the middle of Ocean Grove:

http://www.ogcma.org/pages/specialmusicevents

They have a Summer Stars series of classical concerts and on July 13 there is a choir festival, a contest with choirs from all over, organ music etc.

OG is beautiful just to walk around on a summer evening. You will have a great time!

As mentioned above Loch Arbour is very small with a very small beach...mostly homes...one restaurant, a deli and a liquor store...that's it...so not worth visiting.

As far as bicycle riding please note that all the beachfront towns restrict the riding on the boardwalk during the summer months. Many do not allow it after 9 or 10 AM, but you can ride on the streets.

I suggest that you use the train (nj transit north jersey coast line)to get to some interesting places... Pt. Pleasant Beach, Spring Lake, Red Bank and of course NYC. If you are going to be here the first Saturday of the month, Asbury Park has fun things to do on Cookman Ave.
