Ocean City v. Wildood Crest

What are the differences between Ocean City and Wildwood? We've stayed in Wildwood Crest three times since 2009 and while we enjoy a lot of it (especially the powdery sand beaches) we've also pretty much seen all there is to do. I've been wondering about some of the other beach towns that are nearby and have heard a lot about Ocean City. How different is it from Wildwood? Are the beaches the same? Cape May is very close to Wildwood but the sand there is not the same.

The sand in Cape May is very fine. There are a couple of streets in the Poverty Beach section that are still a little "pebble-y" from a recent beach restoration project. It takes a couple years for the pebbles to settle underneath the silky sand.

The other areas are fine.

Ocean City is much smaller than Wildwood. Also since it is a "dry" town, it attracts mainly families, which means it has less of the noisy drinking crowds at nite. I grew up going to the Crest as a kid, but later we decided Ocean City is a better choice for us. Now 50 yrs later we enjoy it with our grandkids. Great boardwalk, great beaches. Short hop to Atlantic City if any adults want a night out. And we fly there from California, as our grandkids live in NJ!

Ocean City and Wildwood Crest beaches are not the same - Ocean City beaches are much smaller and you will need to pay for beach tags there.

Are you asking for Summer of 2013?
