Getting to NYCity from Holiday Inn, Newark airport

What is public transportation like from Holiday Inn to Manhattan? Is there a path train within walking distance? How long would it take to get to Manhattan and does anyone know costs?

Many thanks!

In order to get into NYC you will need to get back to the airport (check to see if they have a shuttle service). From there take the Air Train to the Liberty Airport Station. From that station you can get either a NJTransit train or AMTRAK into New York.

If you want to stay at a hotel within walking distance of the PATH you should look in Jersey City or Hoboken.

Follow Susie's suggestion, but DO NOT take Amtrak to New York. You will end up to pay over $30. The cost of train ride from Newark Airport station to NY Penn station is $12.5 one way, about 30 mins.

If you want to visit 9/11 Memorial or any downtown attractionsr in NYC, take New York bound NJ Transit train from Newark Airport station and get off at Newark Penn Station (next stop, $8.25), then switch to PATH train. It will take you straight to World Trade Center. It takes about 30 mins ride from Newark, $2 one-way.

You can probably take a cab from the hotel to the train stations, but it will costs more than $20.

Many thanks for all these links! This may sound like a really silly question, but if certain things we want to do may not be possible; ive just noticed something that looks great; the delaware river tubing in Frenchtown; we do not drive; is it possible to get a train or bus from say New yk city or NJ Penn station to Frenchtown and how would we then get to the delaware tubing place? Also, this is another odd question maybe; im a bit confused, are there 2 penn stations? One in NY City and one in NJ??

Many thanks!!

Welcome back broadway. My.point is what ever money you are saving staying by the airport as oposed to nyc (wich it sounds like you really want to see) is going to be eaten up by getting into nyc everyday and probably end up costing more than a hotel in nyc. to ad to your question frenchtown is beutiful. im not sure if the transbridge bus from the airport goes to frenchtown. so if you do want to goto frenchtown you would have to leave nj just to reenter nj.
