McDonald's in Tonopah

We just came thru Tonopah four days ago on our annual

girls trip and always come back this way to northern Nevada.

My question is, does anyone know what happened to the McDonald's

in Tonopah? when we came thru last year it was open and this year as

we came up to the top of the hill it was closed.

It was always one of our stops along the way and I was just wondering

why it closed.

Smith Valley is cool (although there was a bad wildland fire there this summer.)

What is the name of the restaurant there?

Hawthorne used to be the Naval Weapons Station Hawthorne (from WWII to about the 1980's) Until last year there were a half-dozen 16-inch naval rifle barrels (the big guns that battleships like USS Wisconsin and Iowa used) lying on the ground just inside the main entrance. They were gone last week. Probably cut up for scrap. Now it is a contractor-run munitions storage area under Army management. My brother-in-law, who used to work there, says that most of those hundreds of semi-inderground bunkers are actually full of WWII munitions.

Wow!!! You guys are all wrong!!! I'm the last person to work at McDonald's. I worked until the last burger was served, we were actually plenty busy. It all had to do with management issues and the fact that the building needed to be brought up to code. The owners decided to pull out after many in house management and employee issues, and I don't blame them after all that was lost and sacrificed over the years. If people actually cared about their jobs and cared about serving the public more than their own personal lives maybe it would still be here... Greed is ones worst enemy
