 Which downtown hotel?

I am in a quandry. I'm a downtown regular and have stayed at 4 Queens for the last 7 or 8 visits. I like the place, the rooms are better than many downtown and I usually get a decent room rate. I'm too much of a low roller for comped rooms here, but I do about 50% of my gaming at the 4Q.

But... I currently have a $19.06/night rate at the Golden Gate (where I have never stayed). I booked it a couple months ago because of the very positive reviews on TA and other travel sites (small, clean, comfortable and very affordable rates) and the lack of comparable published rates for the 4Q (at that time) .

My problem is 4Q now has rates at $25/night for the time I will be there. Should I spring for the extra $6 + tax per nite and go with the known product (and loyalty), or try something new and unknown at the Golden Gate?

mmc-

How long are you going for? Maybe you could spend a couple of nights at the 4Q's and a couple at the Golden Gate. Is room size a concern for you. I have read on here that while the rooms are very nicely renovated, they are extremely small.

I'm only there for three days, two nights (Nov 16-18). Splitting the hotel stay trip just isn't worth the hassle.

I'm always up to try a new hotel but still stay at the 4 Queens on just about every trip. I always split my time to at least 2 to 4 hotels per trip. If it were me, I'd try the GG for maybe 2 nights. It is hard staying away from the 4 Queens though.

i stayed at the golden gate in late september in a 3rd floor east facing room. i had the $19.06 rate. the ipod docking clock radio was nice. the rooms had been recently remodeled, i liked the color combos in the room, quality of the bed and bedding was fine, size of the closet and friendliness of the staff were good. the shower head was amazing and at least 7 feet from the floor and there was lots of hot water and good pressure. valet staff were nice. the window opened for fresh air. while the hotel was full i did not hear my neighbors. you could hear another shower while you were in the bathroom. housekeeping was fine. the downsides for me were 1- no inroom safe, so i had to visit the desk at least twice a day to do a cash dropoff or get more money, while the staff let me use the side of the desk....i learned i like in room safes 2-the noise from the alley at 5:30am was jarring as the trash was picked up. 3- the bathroom is small, maybe 8 by 10 and for more then one person the counter space will be limited. 4- since the rooms themselves are rather close, maybe 15 by 15, 2 people better really really like each other or be very in love.

i would stay there again for the same rate.

I agree with Vegasvarmet- the 4 Q's is hard to stay away from!!! But if you're fortunate enough to go more than once a year, then what the heck- go for the GG!! Its cool to check out new places - Have a great trip!!!

Stay at GG and give us a TR. We are planning on staying there if the rates are good. Love 4 Q but a change is nice.

If you go often; fill out a feed back form for them (4Q). They used to have them in the room. You may have to ask for one. They will send you a discount if you fill out your name and address. They ask about the room, resturants, gambling and so forth. I like to fill them out expecially if there is maintance issues with the room.

Loveco, that's exactly why I fill one out every time!
