 Best routes with rental car?

We are making our 10th trip to Vegas in September...never rented a car before, but this time we are thinking about it. All I really know is Koval and Las Vegas Blvd and FLamingo. We're staying at Caesars...so are there back routes/roads to take, going say, from CP to Wynn, or CP to Mandalay Bay for example...or should we just go up and down Las Vegas Blvd? What about CP to Fremont? Appreciate any route info.

Industrial road parallels the strip on the west side. It runs from south of Blue Diamond Rd until you are almost downtown. It was OK when I was there in May, but there is supposed to be quite a bit of construction.

Frank Sinatra drive runs behind the strip places on the west from just north of Ceasars to Mandalay Bay. You will have some construction issues.

Tripsweluv, I rented a car for the first time on my 5th trip in March.

I found the roads very easy to navigate and getting into and out of most hotel parking lots simple as well.

Aside from a pleasure drive up the Strip once (perhaps the night you want to go downtown) I would say avoid using it as a route between places as it does get busy and you have to know which lanes to get in to and when to turn off.

We found that, as previously mentioned, Industrial Road (parallel to the west) and Paradise Road (parallel to the east) were great to move north and south quickly and we just made sure we knew which cross street to approach the hotel we wanted from.

Real easy…

The car rental garage will dump you out onto Haven Street.

Make a right onto E. Warm Springs Rd.

Make a right onto S. Las Vegas Blvd.

As you come to Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, you can make a left onto Four Season Dr., but I can’t remember if there are signs for Frank Sinatra Dr. Instead, it may be easier to make a left onto Mandalay Bay Rd. It may be a bit more congested depending on the time of day, but I think it will be easier for you.

Make a right onto Frank Sinatra Dr. from Mandalay Bay Rd. You may hit some construction, but it shouldn’t be horrible.

When you see Caesar’s Palace, you’ll want to make a right onto Jay Sarno Way.

Just follow the road up to the front of Caesar’s Palace. If it’s too crowded, you may want to double back and valet park in the parking garage, but it is a bit of a hike to the front desk.

Take a look at MapQuest and you should be able to follow the above directions.

Just as an FYI, by the time you hit Mandalay Bay you should be able to get an idea on how congested LVB is. If it doesn’t look too congested, you can always cruise down the boulevard and make a left in Caesar’s Palace.

BTW, if you belong to AAA, get their map of Las Vegas and it will help you out a lot. There are lots of roads behind the casinos that the cabbies use.

Enjoy!!

On the subject of maps may I recommend Insight Fleximaps?

They are plastic-coated which makes them both very durable and really easily opened and closed and are very clear.

My Vegas copy is the oldest one I own (I've got about ten now) and is still going strong after eight years and five trips.

This site has an excellent source of maps and routings.

Do your research before you arrive so you aren't flustered in LV traffic. There is a wealth of resources available to help you find these roads.
