Honeymoon in Vegas - a few questions

Hi, Im going to Vegas for 4 nights - staying in Paris - from the 22nd December this year before going to LA and San Francisco.

I had a few questions:

My fiancee and I haven't gambled properly before so would it be best to stick to some of the less posh casinos to start with?

Are there free shows to go to or cheap offers once you are there?

Is it advisable to book shows etc. before you go or just to wait until there?

Where would be a nice place to go on xmas day for a good dinner?

Thanks very much,

Boston

Makes no difference where you gamble, the difference is WHAT you want to gamble at such as slots, craps,BJ, and so on, the table limits are somewhat less expensive at some of your less expensive hotels.

There are some free shows to see.

It is very advisable to book shows before you go especially if its a very popular one, on some of the less popular ones you can usually wait. The rule is if its a special show You want to see, Book it early.

LV has many restaurants, more so then you will ever imagine, one really would have to know WHAT you like for food, how much you want to spend and also it would help to know were your staying.

Congrats! Good questions.

Christmas time is slow in Vegas compared to all other times, so you will have better selections of what you want to do. That said, that time of year many shows are on holiday so the selectionns are smaller. As to the shows, I would wait and see how you feel when you arrive and go to the 1/2 price ticket places to see if there is a show you may want to see. (Depending where you are staying, one in the Coke shops, fashion show mall and other areas)

As to gambling: Where are you staying? Many hotel offer free classes in the mornings for table games. You learn and play blackjack, craps and other table games. Slots are slots! Either tables games or slots it does not matter where you gamble, you just want to have fun. If you want lower table stakes you have to get up early for $5 USD- tables at the "posh" casinos because they raise the limits in the late morning or afternoons. The smaller casnios retain the lower limits all day.

Free shows will be in the afternoon, a magic show or two. Maybe a 2 drink minimum. Big Elvis is free, only play during the weekdays after 3:PM and worth going.

Christmas Dinner---Again that is up to your taste. Many are running on a small staff, so find a place when you arrive and make reservations. Steaks- NYNY, MGM and Excal have nice steak places on that end- Range in Harrahs is okay. Circus Circus great Steakhouse and Hugo Cellar downtown is great. Others you really can not go wrong with a named Chef. Ask the Concierge when you arrive, they will assist you.

Again enjoy and congrats!

Im probabaly going to wait until im there for the shows and just see whats on at that time of year.

Anything you would advise as a must do when we are there?

Cheers

Paris will have one of the best breakfast buffets with all the creps and pastries. Cheesecake Factory a must @ Caesars for coffee and desert of even a meal!

Of course you will be across from the fountains and the volcano. Really 4 nights is not that long, so unles you want a short day trip to see Mt Charleston or Grand Canyon, the must sees are the normal:

NYNY with a roller coaster, the Lions at MGM are free, the white tigers mirage, shark reek charges @ mandalay bay, auto collection @ IP if hubby loves old collector cars (get free coupons) CP should have the Gods back up and running (free show).

Again go to the Coca Cola exhibit and next to it there is the 1/2 price ticket area, pick a show for that day to see.

Downtown Fremont experience laser show is free and should be seen. Cheapest way is take the "duce" bus to downtown that evening and see the show and old Vegas.

Enjoy!
