Las Vegas Forum: Have You Seen Bette Midler??

I'm also curious about the reviews on Bette's show. I can't imagine it would be so good but you never know.

Saw her show years ago. Excellent. If past performance means anything it will be overtly suggestive in some parts and the F word used once or twice. Not for the under 14 or so set I guess.

no i havent seen bette midler , but on a sidenote , when i came home from work today , i walked in and my wife was watching beaches and crying like a baby .....

She's as good as she was decades ago when Barry Manilow was with her on piano.

A great performer and a teriffic person.

This is now my most suggested show to anyone asking, can't see it anywhere else other than LV - a fabulous night.

She's a classy old broad, with more talent than other performers in LV.

My mom and I are going to Vegas in April and she was dying to see Bette. I was not as interested having seen the preview of her show on Oprah. I was just going to suck it up and be a good daughter, but it turns out Bette will not be performing while I'm there. Still, I can't help but feel like a bit of a bad daughter for being happy that we'll be seeing LOVE instead! Must be all of that good old fashioned italian catholic guilt my mom instilled in me!

As for Bette's show, I have seen video of previous ones and she is a bit bawdy, but not gross. Based upon that I don't think she'll do anything that a teenaged kid hasn't already seen in school. I don't know if younger kids would get anything out of it.

We were there last week and talked to people after her show and they said it was excellent. We didn't go to the show but watched her do her interview after her first show and saw many stars it was pretty cool..

I saw her two years ago when she was touring in our town and she was wonderful. So does many costume changes and the show was high energy.

Yes, I was very lucky and actually saw the show on opening night. And yes, it's an adult show for adults. And yes, it's great. The show opens with an unbelievable video intro and Bette enters, oops..., I won't spoil it here. She sings, tells jokes and stories, mocks herself, her show and the audience as only she can. You get her hit songs, some unexpected selections, a terrific "tribute" to showgirls, mermaids in wheelchairs, and heartwarming moments. Her back-up band was fabulous. The language is salty and the jokes low. The timid need not apply. You'll laugh your (here's a veiled hint) a** off. I'd never been in the Colosseum and was surprised at how huge it is. But she fills it up with music and lots (LOTS) of laughter. The sound was clear and crisp. We could hear everything as if we were in the front row (but we weren't, unfortunately). She's one of that increasingly rare breed, the true all-around entertainer.
