First time in Vegas: Mirage, Mandalay Bay, TI or The Hotel

Going to Las Vegas for two days in early July. Four adults total: Me, my parents and my sister. My sister and I are in our early twenties. None of us, with the exception of my sister, has ever been to Las Vegas. We really want to stay at a nice hotel in a great location. So far, we are thinking about The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, TI or The Hotel.

We really want to have a fun time on our first trip to Vegas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mirage is in the best location of those listed, and is a very nice hotel with a great pool. Walkable to the sights at Bellagio, Caesar's, Venetian, Wynn, etc.

MB and The Hotel may be a 1/2-notch above the Mirage, but they are far south strip.

TI is a good hotel, but not quite in the league of the other three.

I agree that the Mirage is in a better location...walkable to surrounding properties. But I prefer The Hotel or Mandalay Bay...even if its South Strip...I usually rent a car when I go..it's too hot to walk around anyway. The pool areas at Mandalay Bay/The Hotel you will enjoy...

However, being your first trip to Vegas...you'd probably want to stay mid-strip at the Mirage or TI. The Paris is also a very nice property.

I personally walked the first day the first time I was in Vegas...as soon as I walked into a hotel mid-day...I walked up to the Car Rental and rented a car...even if the properties are close together...(or so they seem)...it's really really hot and the properties are hugggeee....

Have fun...!!

Unless your parents are real party animals I wouldn't recommend TI. Mirage is a happy medium. Nice for parents but has a great pool with a nice party atmosphere there. The Hotel has far superior rooms. WE are going there in August with my parents (we are in our 30's). Their pool is fabulous as well, but the rooms can't be beaten. It is south strip, but we always have a car.

Mirage. Mandalay Bay and THEHotel are very nice hotels, but if location is really important, the Mirage is better. Your parents probably wouldn't like TI too much.

I stayed at Mirage, TI, then Bellagio a couple weeks ago. Out of all the hotels I visited (Paris, MGM, Venetian, Wynn, ...), IMO ONLY Bellagio was nicer than Mirage (even though I honestly thought that Mirage's "theme" was better).

Thanks so much for the quick and highly informative responses. It sounds like most agree that TI would not be the best choice. It also seems like most feel that Mandalay Bay and The Hotel are slightly more superior to the others in terms of quality. However, The Mirage is better in terms of location. Is that a pretty accurate assessment?

What's interesting is that we had originally intended to stay at either Mandalay Bay or The Hotel, but kept reading on this site about how "far" they were from all the action. Do you all feel that we would really be disappointed staying far from mid-strip? Would parking be an issue if we just decided to rent a car? Very interested in finding out everyone's opinion on whether we should choose quality of hotel over location, or vice-versa?

Thank you all so much. This is really helping me out :)

If you are only going to be there two days then I would try and stay center strip. You will need a car or have to take a shuttle to the monorail to get midstrip. If you had more time in Vegas I would say it didn't really matter, but with such a short time, I would stick with the Mirage unless really superior rooms are most important.

Mirage is the perfect place for you, you will not need a car if you stay there. TI is next door and you get there via monorail. You can walk to Forum Shoppes ( a must! ) and to Caesar's, they are next door on the other side. Bellagio is next to that and Paris is across the street! The Venetian is also just a few steps away.

I've stayed at Caesar's (Palace Tower), TI, Bellagio, Mirage, Paris in the past and Mirage location is my favourite. The pool is awesome as is the whole casino in my estimation.

For this trip, MB and The Hotel are too far and I really prefer the others more!!

Enjoy!!

HI- I stayed at Mandalay Bay for my first trip to Vegas. I loved it, had an incredible view of the strip, but we would have liked to have been mid-strip.
