Lake Tahoe in June

Traveling to Lake Tahoe first part of June - 1st time there. Need guidance on hotels. Also looking for day tours to Carson and Virginia City - Any suggestions? Heard a lot about Harrah's and Harvey's - any suggestions?

Does this mean you won't have a car?

Do you have a budget for your lodging? What kind of lodgiing are you interested in?

Yes, we will have a car as we are going to drive from Las Vegas. I am thinking that at least one organized tour will be more beneficial than us roaming around on our own (we're only going to spend about 4 days once we get there). Do you think we would be just as well taking the tour on our own?

We don't really have a lodging budget as such. Just something nice and conveniently located. I'm sure everyone wants to have a view of the lake (smiles) but that's not totally necessary. We certainly are not willing to pay $300/night just to sleep.

Thanks for all of your help

Well think about a lake tour for sure. You can take one of the paddle wheel boats from Zephyr Cove or from the marina.

Or see the west side of the lake including Emerald Bay, aboard a smaller craft, The Safari Rose:

Or even the Bleu Wave out of Round Hill (near Zephyr Cove):

You can certainly do a Virginia City Tour on your own but I see why you’d maybe like to do it on a tour. Check out this web site to see if it’s something you’d be able to manage on your own.

The first part of June you should be able to get some real deals on lodging since it’s not really summer season yet. Surprisingly there is not too terribly much lake view or lakefront lodging available that I can recommend.

If you want to be in South Lake Tahoe in the area of the casinos then you’d probably have to stay in Harvey’s upper rooms to get a view of the lake.

If you don’t need to be close to the casinos then you could stay a little further west of them and get in lakefront rooms at the Best Western Timber Cove.

Lakeshore Lodge & Spa is also lakefront in South Lake Tahoe.

If you want to be on the north shore you could try for as nice room at the Hyatt. Their lakeside cottages are to die for but then we may be getting a little too spendy

If that doesn’t work do look into Ferrari’s Crown Resort it’s lakeside and within walking distance to dining etc.:

There is lots of other lodging that is nice but wouldn’t give you a view of the lake but would maybe include access to a private beach. So much to choose from.
