My husband and I are thinking of going to Lake Tahoe this summer with our four children (9, 11, 19 and 21). Any ideas for us on where to stay. We would like something nice hopefully on the lake and with a nice pool area (water slides would be nice). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I don't know about slides or pools, but the north shore offers quite a few hotels with private beach access. The South shore has more casinos, shopping and traffic, but I prefer the quieter, calmer, smaller town feeling of places like Kings Beach.

As for activities, I love the paddleboat tours. They are especially beautiful during the sunrise or sunset trips and often include a meal. A great laid-back way to see the lake.

Sand Harbor offers a beautiful place for a swim (watch out, it's cold water!) and shakespeare plays, if you're into that. I've been to the plays and found them to be much more fun than I'd expected.

Good Luck!

Given age diversity of your kids, would recommend the south shore, either best Western Timber lodge or, better still if budget goes there, the Lakeland Village which has shoreline and pools plus tub - houses or condos to your choice.

There are some nice motels/lodges off the main street toward the lake and probley get good deal staying five days. This area only blocks from Harrah's and other top casnios.

You also might check renting a timeshare and one of the best is the Ridge Tahoe.I doubt you will get one for $70.00 a night though. You can check on line for timeshare rentals through owners.

Taking your family the Ridge Tahoe Naegle building is the best and sleeps six with two bedrooms and patio that curves from one bedroom to the other and has gas barbaque.

I have rented the Naegle and its just the best. Good Luck and have fun!
