 Mexican Restaurants?

We're passing through Lincoln next Friday en route from Denver to our family's cottage in northern Michigan. We usually stay in the quad-cities area for our stop but decided to take a more leisurely pace this year. We're staying at the Country Inn and Suites, which seemed to get decent reviews here. I saw the suggestions for Valentino's pizza and Arturo's Mexican, but are there any other good Mexican places, particularly with really good margs? I know from experience that driving cross country with an 8-year old calls for a very stiff drink upon arrival.

Acapulco, Lucy's, and La Paz are our favorite Mexican restaurants. We don't drink so I can't answer that question. Arturos has closed and IMO Val's isn't worth the price. They have become a pizza, pasta, salad buffet. The chain Carlos O'Kelly's is near your hotel. Don't forget to go to Runza, a small Lincoln based chain, for a runza or hamburger. Enjoy your time, kids grow up too quickly.

We really like Carlos O'Kelly's margaritas, and their food too!

La Paz is our all time favorite! It is located at 56th and Cotner.

It is a great local place. Their salsa is the best:)

La Paloma Restaurant is by far the best you will find. It is located just outside Lincoln. Four miles East on O street. They have the best Margaritas around!

Las Margaritas, El Toro, Mazatlan are all owned by the same people and they have the best margaritas. Their food is okay, but even better after one or two margaritas. La Paz is good. Haven't been to La Paloma, but have heard good things. Then there is El Portrero down in the Haymarket. Been there a few times. Food is decent, but margaritas aren't as good as the first three places I listed. Arturo's was my favorite place, but they have closed now.

I would suggest El Potrero in the Haymarket..... it's a neat little area.

Arturo's has closed (as another mentioned), La Paz - I don't see what the fuss is over this place, average at best, and I wouldn't bother with Val's. If you want good pizza in a very laid back atmosphere, try The Aisles in Havelock.

This is an old post, but ill comment anyway

By far the best mexican in lincoln (and perhaps anywhere ive been) is La Mexicana on 17th st. I cant exactly remember the cross street, but its around P or Q.

Its a little mexican grocery store with a restaurant in teh back. Fantastic and authentic.,.. with very strong (but tasty) margaritas for a reasonable price.
