 Sweetie Pies

I was just watching Diners Dives and Drive Ins (or whatever order its in) and I saw a place called Sweetie Pies. I searched this forum, but didn't get enough info. Mostly, I was wondering what the prices were like and what would be the best time to visit. The mac and cheese looked absolutely scrumptious!! Anybody have any views to offer? Thanks

there's another thread on this:

I've never eaten there but I know that area quite well. That area is hard to describe. Much of the building fronts along that strecth of Manchester are boarded up. It looks bad. However, there are several nice bars/restaurants between Kingshighway and Vandeventer, this being one of them.

This is definitely a place to go. There are two locations, and the new one at Manchester and Tower Grove is very nice, and it's a great addition to the up and coming neighborhood. Just ate lunch there today as a matter of fact! It's cafeteria style, and the menu changes slightly every day. You'll pay about $10 a person, but you get a HUGE plate of good, homecooked food (for example, 4 xtra-lg fried chicken wings and 2 good size sides). And the mac n' cheese is worth every penny. The service is amazing. I was there around noon, and there wasn't much of a crowd. It's still new, so I would imagine that anytime you go would be fine, and you move through the line pretty quick. There is on street, meter parking, but not hard to find a spot.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the help. I do believe that we will give Sweetie Pie's a try while we are up there. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!! Sounds like it is reasonable price wise, too. Really, not a whole lot more than Mickey D's and no doubt a WHOLE lot better!!! I can't wait. Thanks again, guys!!

Sweetie Pies, is a GREAT PLACE to eat. It's started by one of the singers for Ike and Tina, (one of the Ikette's) and the food is amazing. It's called a Soul Food restaurant, and they serve cafeteria style. But we were welcomed like family, and ate about as much. The portions were large, and the price was just right, but I can't say enough about their Mac and Cheese, and the service. BOTH WERE EXCELLENT. And the Meat loaf made me miss my mama. They are about to open another place across from the Fox, that will be more of a Jazz club, and restaurant, but Sweetie Pies will always be a special place to eat, and to feel like you're part of the family. We highly recommend it.
