Looking for Tunica info and advice

We are thinking about coming to Tunica later this summer, but have never been. We live near the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa and do enjoy the fact that they have multiple bars open on weekends multiple entertainment going on at night and a good poker room. Although we love going to Vegas we don't want to spend the time for a drive or deal with a flight. We do enjoy going to Laughlin, Nevada as well so we don't necessarily need all the glamour of going to Vegas. Basically what are looking for in Tunica is a place where we can try different casinos without having to drive and places where we can find some decent entertainment whether it be dance clubs or live music at decent bars and not having to pay outrageous prices for beers. We are mid to late thirties couple who can dress fancy when we have to, but really are just looking for a weekend to unwind having fun gambling and drinking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We go a lot and two areas will meet your needs. The first is roadhouse, horseshoe and gold coast. No night clubs but 5 bars between the 3 and 3 of the bars have live entertainment. They get very lively on the weekends and all three very close together and you can easily walk between the 3.

The other spot is Sams Town, Hollywood and Resorts. Now Sam's has a bar called Roxy's that is close to a night clud with live entertainment and a DJ after the band. Hollywood has a lounge with live entertainment and Resorts a bar with live bands.

All bars have video poker and free drinks if your a player. If not the drinks are reasonable at all these places .

The other 2 spots in Tunica being Harrahs and Fitzgeralds will pretty much strand you. Nothing close to them. Ballys is low end casino that is close to roadhouse but you have to craw under two gates and walk across a dirt road.

I rate tunica similar to Laughlin. More laid back and not as much glamor and crowds . You should completely enjoy it there. Hope you win a lot.

I think Nancy meant Gold Strike, which is an MGM property.

There is a free shuttle (NOT 24/7) that runs between Harrahs and Horseshoe, so staying at Harrahs or at the Roadhouse/Horseshoe/Gold Strike area would give you access to that as well.

Fitz always has a lot of live entertainment, but, as Nancy said, they are in a remote area. They don't seem to keep their website up to date, but if you're on Facebook, they have a very active page there.

If you like a nice pool area in the summer, Harrah's Terrace tower has by far the nicest outdoor pool area. Hollywood has a really nice indoor pool area with an attached outdoor sun deck.

Thanks to you both for the info. If anyone has anymore that could help we would appreciate it. Looks like it is going to come down to the drive to Tunica or a reasonably priced flight and hotel combo to Laughlin. Both seem to have reasonable hotel prices with decent entertainment and value. Since we have done Laughlin several times I am leaning towards a Tunica trip.We will definitely put out some feed back from what ever trip we end up on.

thanks Deb for catching my gold error. There are so many casinos with the word gold in it.

Hoping to get back there in early July. Tunica is my major R&R location.

Not counting the Gold Strike, there are 2 bars at the Roadhouse, and 3 at the Horseshoe. That is 5. I honestly don't know how many bars there are at the MGM property (Gold Strike). There is entertainment at both the Roadhouse and Horseshoe at certain bars. The front bar at the Roadhouse has a band. You need to check for the times at their website. We are also fans of Laughlin. My husband and I go twice a year on a charter.

Good Luck

My husband and I have never been to Tunica but we are leaving tomorrow on a Harrahs charter flight. One of the above posters said the drinks are free while gambling at the video poker bars and I was wondering if they are free throughout the casinos while gambling. Also, very excited to find out there are other casinos in the area. I have always been able to get any into I need from this forum. Thanks!

Yes, drinks are free throughout the casinos as long as you are playing. I have watched my husband play craps, bj, slots, etc. on occassion and the cocktail waitresses usually will ask if I want something as well. Be sure to tip!

You're so welcome. I think all of the Caesar's properties in Tunica have the touch screen ordering system on their slot machines.
