Flooding

Hi all! Our junket finally leaves on wednesday and it can't come soon enough! Can someone please ease my mind about flooding? Been watching the weather and I keep seeing flood warnings for the mississippi down by Tunica. If anyone lives near here can you give me an honest reply on the liklihood of the casinos being affected? We were actually scheduled on a junket last year and it was canceled the week of due to hurricane Sandy. I will very disappointed if I have to hold on to my money again this time! Thanks!

1. Re: Flooding

Living here in Memphis, I have not heard or read any news stating that they think the casinos might flood again. I certainly hope not as I don't think Tunica can recover from another flood so soon after the 2011 floods. I would call the hotel directly right before your trip to double check.

Thanks for the good news! I have just been following the warnings on the weather channel website. I am glad that it is not as bad as it sounded! Time to pack my bags!

You're so welcome. Have a wonderful trip.

I don't know if you're on Facebook, but you can follow Fitz Casino on there. They've been posting regular updates about the forecasted river stages. Thursday they posted that its currently forecasted to crest about 5 ft. below what would be a danger to them. Of course, it may be different for other casinos, but there haven't been any news reports here about the casinos closing for flooding, etc. In 2011, there were constant reports about the damage there. The lower MS River has been very low, to the point of holding up barge traffic. I would guess they could take a bit more water than usual in that area.
