Sams Town

Hi Deb

I have a new question. I checked Sam town and they have no bands listed as they normally do. Only a DJ listed for one weekend. Are they cutting back on the bands? If so, are other casinos cutting back on live entertainment?

lad your still on this forum. You have so much knowledge to share. We are considering a return trip in June. Have not been there since Aug last year. We did go to Vegas since then.

But I was concerned to hear in one of your posts that the casinos are seeing a downturn. Is the economy in Memphis still doing poor? Sure hope it picks up. I would to see any casinos go away.

I'm sure the casinos are still cutting back on extras like live entertainment. There are usually quarterly reports in the local paper about MS casino income. While its up at the coastal casinos, it continues to decline in Tunica.

For sure Fitz and Horseshoe have still been offering live entertainment. While the Fitz website is often not up to date, you can follow them on Facebook and they do keep that page up to date.

Yes, the economy in Memphis is most always behind the national average. Its not an area with high paying jobs. We also have a high airfare problem and some companies have said they are either moving or won't locate here because of that.

We hope to go to Vegas again later this year. Lower airfares would be a real plus for us.

You're so welcome. I follow most of the casinos, in Vegas as well as Tunica, that we like. They sometimes advertise specials on there.

Many players like myself don't care about live usic and all the noise bothers us. Several people have mentioned in their reviews that they noticed no live music. I believe that Sam's Town is simply catering to the majority of their clientel, which is senior citizens. The other casinos in the area were very loud so I think you wouldn't have too much trouble finding the entertainment you seek to compliment your gaming.

Sam's Town Tunica still has bands every Friday and Saturday night. They also have a new DJ! DJ Jon. I know this is correct due to I am the new DJ since March. It's a little loud some nights but we try to play a wide variety of music. We hope everyone gets a chance to come out and see what's new at Roxy's Live!

Thanks DJ Jon. Look forward to coming back and your show as well as the bands. Always enjoy Roxies.
