Gulfport October or November for weather and crowds

Planning 10 days in Gulfport but not sure if October or Novemer would be better. Was hoping for warmer temps and less crowds. Also heard that the beaches are still not so clean from Hurricane Katrina. Should we just skip the beach scene and stick with just sightseeing?

The beaches look pretty good last fall. If want to experience more of MS than the beach then why not also visit Natchez for historic antebellum plantations and Vicksburg for the Civil War military park, exhibits, museum, historic downtown and good food. If you have 10 days then lots to do in southern part of MS imo.

There's never really 'crowds' on the Gulfport beaches -- miles and miles of sand to go around.

Not true that the beaches haven't been cleaned up since Katrina. A number of piers from Biloxi to Waveland (and Gulfport in between) sustained damage during Isaac this past fall, with repairs to almost all expected this summer.

You won't have crystal blue water on the MS Gulf Coast beaches due to runoff from the Mississippi river, but the water is safe to swim in (though very shallow) and the beaches are great.

Water temps in October/November are on the chilly side -- October being warmer of course. Lots of warm enough days for enjoying the beach, but not as sweltering as the summer. I'd recommend bringing a frisbee, or bocce to the beach for a great time -- just have a good time! You'll have plenty of time for sightseeing, too.

The beaches in Gulfport are beautiful and uncrowded even in July.

The beaches are beautiful. If you are adverse to crowds, don't come Oct. 6 through the 13th unless you are a car enthusiast. This is when we have "Cruisin the Coast". It's a lot of fun but the crowds are huge.

http://www.cruisinthecoast.com/ If you would like to come for "Cruisin" don't wait to make reservations as the hotels book early for this event.
