Restaurant suggestions for our trip to Biloxi

It's been several years since we were last in Biloxi.

I do remember we had a hard time finding places to eat while there. This was after Katrina, so I thought that may have been why.

We ate a lot of meals at the casino buffets. We had one b'fast at Waffle House and pizza at some side street and had Krispy Kremes (the place had just opened, so that will tell you how long ago that was).

This time we'd like to do something more interesting.

For instance, we will be going to The Shed. Is one location better than the other?

The Island View buffet and the Beau Rivage buffet at that time were very good. Is that still the case?

We were just in New Orleans and enjoyed the barbequed oysters. Any restaurants that serve them and any that are similar to Acme or Deanies (in NOLA)?

And breakfast. Some place local ..... like Mothers (without the attitude)?

We'll probably be staying at Harrah's Grand and will have a car.

I would go to the original Shed which is in Ocean Springs. I've been to both and there's is more atmosphere at the one in Ocean Springs then in Gulfport. For great oysters, try the Half Shell. Located both in downtown Biloxi and Gulfport. http://halfshelloysterhouse.com

Local breakfast, hard to beat Waffle house, but for simple fare, the locals go to Triplett Drug Store (they have wonderful beignets. It's located in Gulfport on 49 just a couple of blocks north up from Beach Blvd.

A new restaurant that is one of my all time favorites is the Beach Blvd. Steamer. It's right across the street from Island View. The Ruby Red Shrimp are to die for. islandviewcasino.com/diningBeachBlvdSteamerM…

In my opinion the Island View and Beau still have the best buffets.

Have a great time!

BEIGNETS? Did you say beignets? We really liked them in New Orleans at Cafe du Monde. Are the beignets at Triplett Drug Store similar? Are they freshly made?

It's great getting feedback from a local. Thank you!

The beignets are freshly made to order and I think every good as the ones at Cafe du Monde. The Beau Rivage also serves beignets in their coffee shop but they seem to have a lemony taste, still good but a bit different.

I agree with Claudia about the original Shed in Ocean Springs! If you don't mind driving a little West there's a neat little cafe in Long Beach that we enjoyed last summer: http://www.darwellscafe.com/. We also plan to visit this place when we're in town this summer. dianafillhart.vpweb.com/Starfish-Cafe.html Have a great trip and come back and post a trip report please!

How is the seating at The Shed? I know it's pretty rustic, but can we still sit at a table by ourselves?

Also, is there seating inside and is inside airconditioned?

In post 7 above, I asked if the Shed was airconditioned. Is it?
