Tricks on how to get comped

Hi y'all! My hubbie and I are small gamblers...we play craps and blackjack & we'll throw down around $500 or so per evening I guess. We'll go gambling about once every 2 months here in Louisville where we live (we've got one Horseshoe casino). We gamble about twice a year in Biloxi and usually stay at the Hard Rock. Question:

I hear about so many people being able to get flights, rooms & meals comped all the time. I can't say I know anything about all that...I mean, we've got our players cards we throw down each time we hit a new table, and from time to time we'll ask the pitt boss to consider extending a meal comp for us, but I have the impression we're "doing it wrong" haha! Am curious to know how to get in the ballgame of getting flights? Aren't they called "junkets" or something? Perhaps it's just that we are in no way considered high rollers and don't gamble enough to qualify? Any advice or tricks are SINCERELY appreciated! Thanks y'all & happy gambling!

Girl: I have heard that playing the slots actually gets you more comps points, etc. .....and that the table games get you meals. Of course, I have heard that if you gamble a good amount at the tables, they might give the big comps.

I have gotten the most comps at the slots in comparison to my husband and his gambling at the tables. It seems to me, that the more often you frequent the casinos the more comps you receive. I've not received comped air fare to anywhere yet; but have received free nights, meals, and play a good bit. I have received flight and hotel stay offers at casinos in Laughlin, CO, and Lake Tahoe; not free, but at a fee that is about half of the normal flight and hotel cost.

BKTRIP might be able to give you info on the free flights thing as he just mentioned getting this for the I.P. in Biloxi on a recent post.

I agree with the Bell. I am a 100% slot player. On Slots you rack up points, tables you hope they take care of you. There is more profit for the casino with slots than lets say Blackjack.

I am not a high rollar. I go with a daily budget of $200. I play .50 to .60 cents a spin. I do play for about 10 to 12 hours a day. With your budget you should be getting at least good room and freeplay offers.

This last offer I received from the IP was the first free flight comp. I have been getting free flights from the Beau and have only stayed there one night, but try to make a 4 hr pitstop there on each Biloxi visit. The problem with the Beau offers is that the free flight is in the early part of the week and I always travel on a Thursday or Friday, coming back on Sat or Sun.

These free flight offers appear to be only from Atlanta and 4 airports in Florida. The casinos must help pay the cost since everyone on the plane was going to either the IP or the Grand.

I have been going to Biloxi for about 9 years and try to go at least 5 times a year.. I think that also helps.

PS I do not think the Hard Rock as any arrangements with any airlines at this time.. I have seen or know of offers from the Beau, IP, Grand & Island View.

Harrahs Casinos which owns the Grand in Biloxi and of course Harrahs in New Orleans has regular junkets from most cities and also reserves seats on scheduled airlines. I have been invited by them on about a dozen trips and we have gone on three= two to Tunica and one to Reno. I play a fair amount at MGM caainos especially at the Beau but have never received a flight offer from them but always get meals comped as well as fr. Just for what is needed for such, we play different types-my wife.25 slots about 3-4 hours a day and I play $25 tables mostly about 6-8 hours a day. We have found Harrahs better for flights but MGM more generous for meals. The IP appears to have a good comp program but ,of course, they have no affiliated casinos.

The trick is to play and use your card. We are slot players and budget $500 a piece a day and get terrific offers from the Beau. Free flights, rooms and food are all comped. In addition we receive $250 in free play per week and at times can overlap that and wind up with $500 in free play on a 4 night stay. We play quarter and dollar slots using the max play and do not consider ourselves high rollers by any means. We love the Beau so much that we quit going to Vegas.

My wife and I are both blackjack players. We have our player's cards linked. We always play at least $25 per hand. Due to our play in Las vegas, we received an offer to the Beau for a free flight room etc several months ago. We took advantage of it and now get monthly offers for the same. Also, we just ask the pit boss for buffet comps for whatever meal we want to eat and there is absolutely no problem. We are going to Tunica next week and are staying at the Horseshoe which is between the Gold Strike and Sheraton. We are comped at the Horsehoe but will also play at the Gold Strike as it's an MGM property and we want to keep our relationship with them in good standing as well as Harrahs.

I, too, was wondering why I never get the free flight offers. I go to Biloxi or to Vegas about 3 times a year and always use my card. The people I travel with, my best friends and my brother ( my hubby doesn't like gambling) always get the free flight offers and I never do. So I figue its one of 2 things. They gamble more than I; but my friends and I usually take the same gambling amount... or its the city you are from/registered on your Players Club card. My friends are in Tampa and get free offers for flight, transportation and rooms at the Beau all the time. My brother from West Palm and gets free offers from the Beau almost monthly ( he is a high roller) and from other casinos in Biloxi. I am from Central Fla and get zip, notta,,, maybe a free room offer for a Sunday-Thursday only... as a matter of a fact,,, my "birthday" gift from the Beau was a 20.00 free play. Woo Woo Meanwhile my brother gets 200-300-- per month ... like I said he is a high roller.

But, he is taking me tomorrow through Sunday from West Palm for my birthday gift. So I can rack up a few more points. So excited I can't wait.

I am considering changing my address to my friend's house in Tampa to see if I get the same deals they get.

So maybe its the departureccities that determine it.

Wish me luck,,, haven't been gambling in about 5 months due to an injury

Become "Friends" with one particular pit boss if you play the tables. They input the average amount wagered per hand and time played. If you get close to one he/she with enter high amounts. Then you take care of pit boss in return. Gifts/meals/tickets. Com'on it's the gambling industry. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Talk to them about it. If one doesn't want to work with ya find another one. Again, it's gambling. Consider them lawyer types.
