Where do the locals shop in Minneapolis? |

We're planning a girl's weekend in Minneapolis. We're hitting Ikea, but we also want to do some serious shopping. I've been to the MOA several times and consider it more of a tourist attraction than someplace to do serious shopping. My question is: Where do local people go for shopping? I see there is a nice sized mall in Burnsville. Any reviews of the Burnsville mall, or other suggestions for serious shopping? |

What are you shopping for? Grand Avenue in Saint Paul has some great shopping, Uptown in Minneapolis has some great shopping. For what are you shopping? Once we know that, it would be easier to suggest ideas. | ||||||

Yes, what are you shopping for and where are you staying? Burnsville's mall is like every other 10 billion malls in the US. If you are looking for stores found in a mall like that, and you're staying downtown, shop Nicollet Mall dowtown (not a mall in the sense of Burnsville mall -- window shopping pedestrian street shopping with department stores, restaurants, bars, etc. Also, Galleria/Southdale in Edina and street shopping in Uptown, as mentioned already. | ||||||

like others said, Southdale, Galleria, Uptown and I actually like to shop downtown Minneapolis although there is not the variety I still find pretty much everything. | ||||||

If you don't mind a short drive downtown Stillwater is a great place to shop - especially if you like small boutiques and antiques. I'd suggest Red Wing for many of the same items and both towns have some great lunch/dinner spots too. | ||||||

Downtown Wayzata on the shore of Lake Minnetonka has many boutique shops. Lunch on the patio at Sunsets is a perfect spot on a nice sunny day. Also, there are shops at 50th and France in Edina which are very nice. | ||||||

The 50th & France shops are great! There are some of the "mall-type" stores there (Ann Taylor Loft, Gap) but there are some nice independent shops as well. Grand Avenue is also good but much more spread out. | ||||||

Thanks for the great suggestions. We're staying at the Cambria Suites in Bloomington, mainly because we know the Bloomington area. I think we're looking for a mix of shopping...mall type stores and some interesting shops we can't find in Des Moines. The 50th and France area and Grand Avenue shops sound like what we're looking for. Can you tell me more information on these two areas? | ||||||

YAAAY!!! perfect place for you, depending on when you will be here, is Fun sisters! its a couple of ladies that are flight attendants, and they buy cute stuff all over, and sell it in their shop! (lots of cheap fake coach purses, etc!!) perfect for a girls trip! check them out! | ||||||
