Indoor waterpark hotel near MOA?

Is there anything near the MOA/Edina area like a waterpark hotel? Our kids are 3 and 1 and we would like something clean with warm water...

Thanks in advance!

Hello, fellow winnipegers!!!!!!!

A good way to search for that criteria is check out expedia.ca you can look for hotels in that location (and you can also look for hotel with certain amenit. ie: pool)

Best of luck!

The only actual "waterpark" that I know of in the Twin Cities is Grand Rios in Brooklyn Park/Brooklyn Center. It's not as close as Bloomington or Edina to MOA, but it's brand new and supposed to be nice. Their website is www.grandrios.com

There are probably other hotels closer to MOA that have nice pools, but are not techically waterparks.

I'd read the hotel reviews on Trip Advisor for the Grand Rios before booking - they're not very good to say the least. The Courtyard and Residence Inn at the Depot downtown have somewhat better reviews and you might be able to get public transportation to the Mall of America (I'm not familiar with the area, but we are also planning a trip later this year this is definitely under consideration.) The Depot has an indoor waterpark, too. For more info check out this website:

Good luck with your plans!

I forgot about the Depot! I have heard their pool is good and they have a lot of other things to offer. My niece attended an overnight birthday party there and had a great time (take the review of an 8 year old for what you will)

Downtown might be a good option. There is a lot to do/see and you could ride the new light rail down to MOA.

Thanks for the add'l info Coconut Girl - I was hoping that there might be a train out to MOA. Dumb question, seeing as though we're talking about a complex called "The Depot," but is the train station close by or within walking distance?

It's not a dumb question as the "Depot" is an old train station reincarnated as something else and the light rail is brand-spanking new!

You should be able to walk to the light rail from the Depot. The Goverment Plaza station is 3 blocks and the Metrodome Station is about 4 or 5 blocks.

Here is a link to the light rail website (info on fares--all day passes, map of stations, etc): http://www.metrotransit.org/rail/index.asp

Hope this info is helpful!

The Waterpark of America is under construction right now and is just west of the MOA (across the freeway). Otherwise, the old downtown depot (Courtyard by Marriott), Lake street and 35W, or in the Quarry neighborhood (Johnston St NE) are the places in the city of Mpls that are designated as water play. The new waterpark by the mall is set to open in 2006.

They are in the process of building a waterpark across the freeway from the mall, don't know when it will open though.

By the way, i was in Winnipeg last month for a week and loved it, an amazing city

Good Luck
