Lodging between Duluth & Gooseberry Falls State Park

I am looking for suggestions on where to stay between Duluth and Gooseberry Falls. I am also having difficulty finding a cabin/resort near the water that does not require a 2-3 night minimum stay (weekend). Does anyone know of a place along Highway 61 that doesn't have this requirement? I only need accommodations for one night (Saturday).

I know there's a AmericInn right around there.

I like the shoreline north of Gooseberry - so usually stay in Tofte.

I was hoping to avoid a hotel/motel, but looks like that might be my only choice....and it doesn't help that it's a holiday weekend. I am going to do some research on Tofte. Thanks!

See if BlueFin Bay has any opening there, or there's an AmericInn across the street.

This website has links to several places to stay. Many of them have availability calendars on their web sites.
