Could you please explain the ferry ride(s). Are there two locations to take the ferry in Saugatuck? Is there a fee?

1. Re: Ferry

The Saugatuck chain ferry is a small, hand-cranked vessel (people & bikes only) that crosses the Kalamazoo River at the end of Mary St. in downtown Saugatuck. The fee is $1 per ride. Once across the river, you can climb the steps of Mt Baldhead, visit the free Historical Museum or hike to Oval Beach The ferry has limited hours and does not operate in bad weather. There has been a some type of ferry at this location since the 1800's and it is the last remaining hand-cranked chain ferry in the US.
