My husband and I are going for a week to Tahquamenon Falls and Porcupine mountains state parks. Unfortunatly the week we are going I will need to have access to the internet for a course that I'm taking. Do you know if there are hotspots where I can connect to the internet in the area? Thanks, Jen
Wow Jen, I am not finding anything. Have you thought of getting an internet card for your laptop? I got one from AT & T last year and it worked so well, even if my cell phone did not have service. It is more powerful than the typical cell phone and reads off of satellites as well as cells, if I am not mistaken.
They are not cheap and do require you to sign a contract. I was, however, told that they have a buyer's remorse program. I was allowed to return the internet card to AT & T within the first 30 days and the contract was canceled. I only had to pay for the amount of time I used it. It was less than $30.00. You might want to look into it. It worked for me! Moms

That's a good idea. I will look into that. I was starting to think that I would have to postpone our trip until the class was over, but I didn't really want to do that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Jen I would give some business a call in Paradise and see if they have Wi-Fi.

I was not in the UP when I used the internet card. I was at a cottage on Lake Charlevoix where I have to sit on a tree stump with my left arm extended skyward to get cell service. This card was more powerful than my cell phone as it provided service without the usual gymnastics.
Contact your cell provided to see if their internet card will work in Paradise and at the Porcupine Mountains. Moms
We travel to the Up regualrly, and spent a week in the Porkies last year, and they do not have WiFi service. The only state parks I have found that have them are in the LP. I am unsure about wireless cards as I did not try one out last year. At TQ I wouldn't be so worried about it since your not that far from Newberry, but the porkies is at least a 20 minute drive in to Ontonogon. The only business close to the park a little store that sells souviners and a hotel with a little bar in it. Thats it. Good luck and have fun, those are our two favorite MI state parks!!
