A week in Union Pier

We have rented a house with 2 other families in Union Peir for the last week in July. We all have teenage kids. We plan to do a lot of hanging out on the beach. We thought about visiting Captain Mike's for an evening or two. Would the Warren State Dunes Park be worth visiting for a day? What about renting a stand-up paddle board?

Any good ideas for places to go out for dinner?

Anything you think we "must" do?

warren dunes is DEFINITELY worth spending an afternoon----better than any beach in Illinois, by far....

as long as it looks like you'll be staying in the area for a week:

going the other way, about 20 minutes north of UP is st joseph.... also definitely worth spending a day there---beach, fountain, downtown etc.... i believe you can rent paddle boards there too.... and another 20 minute.... north of st joe is south haven, another city definitely worth visiting, especially if you have teenagers.... and i think you can rent SUP's there too....

you'll find UP is a quite and sleepy area, almost like the Northwoods came down to the indiana border......and don't get me wrong: that's a good thing!

Thank you for your sugestions!!

How about a grocery store? Once we arrive we are going to need to stock the kitchen for those hungry teenagers, as well as stock the bar for us parents!

Barney's in New Buffalo will have everything you need, but it is pricey. You may want to stock up at Meijers in Michigan City for main groceries.

We went to Barneys. Brought a lot from home so we just needed a few things. We really liked Barneys.
