things to do?

Are there enough things to do and see to keep a family busy for a week?

Hello lorinjer,

In my opinion 2 days is plenty. Mackinac Island is 2 miles by 3 miles so it is not that big.

Have you gone to the Mackinac Island web site. You may get more of an idea of what there is to do there.

Click below to go to the Island site.

2. Re: things to do?

thanks for the website. We might stay in Harbour springs or Cross village since they both have a couple of hosues big enough for all of us. What else is there to do in that area of Michigan? Is there another place on the beach that is more centrally located for doing things. We want the beach for the kiddos and women, lol but we also want to do the sight seeing sometimes.

Here is an "Inside Page" of things to do Up North. After reading it, let us know if you have any more questions. You will find plenty to do in Northern Michigan this summer! Moms

Thanks I will. We are not going until July of 09 but we know we need to start planning now in order to get a house big enough for all of us.

You may want to look at http://www.mackinac.com/ for more info on Mackinaw Island and http://www.mackinacparks.com/ for all of the parks and things to do. Make sure when you look at the parks website to look into Becoming a Mackinac Associate a group your size can save a bundle on enty to the Forts, Lighthouses and Museums

Depending on what part of the state you want to stay in this is a site with homes for rent broken down by town.

I usually agree with Yooperbacker on things, but for our family 2 days are certainly NOT enough. We need 3-4 days to fully relax and enjoy our time there. Remember the pace on the island is slow and relaxed, it can easily take 3 days or more to fully take it in.

Thanks for the house rental website. I have that one from when we rented one in Branson.

We only have a week to be around the area and want to be centrally located to go to the beach say in the mornings and then go sightseeing in the afternoon/evening. Harbor Springs seems like a good place. How are the beaches there?

I don't always agree with Yooperbacker:-) But for a family that likes to _do_ things, I think that 2 days is about right.
