Need attraction suggestions for Detroit

Hello! We've got a wedding this weekend in Flint, Michigan and will be spending Sunday and Monday in Detroit. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions in regards to restaurants, attractions and hotels. THANK YOU!

Probably the number one attraction in Detroit is The Henry Ford, an indoor/outdoor museum complex. The outdoor portion is Greenfield Village and has Thomas Edison's lab where he invented the lightbulb and phonograph, Stephen Foster's house, the Logan County Courthouse where Lincoln practiced law and other restored historic buildings. They have special events on the weekends in fall.

The Henry Ford Museum has collections of decorative arts but is known for it's transportation collection. It includes most of the Presidential limousines as well as trains, planes. Check hfmgv.org for info.

You can also visit the Detroit Institute of Arts on Sunday (closed Mon). The biggest attraction is the courtyard mural by Diego Rivera. (dia.org)

For restaurants, you could visit Windsor and have lunch in a foreign country. There are lots of great Italian restaurants on Erie Street. To cross the border, you need proof of identity and citizenship (passport or driver's license AND birth cert).

To get away from the city, you could stroll the grounds of Cranbrookin Bloomfield Hills. There's lots of trails, an Art Museum and Science Center.

As for hotels, what's your price range?

Henry Ford, Detroit Zoo, Greektown Casino, Motor City Casino, and Ford Field/Comerica Park would all be nice attractions. I think there is a Lions game at Ford Field this weekend. Hockeytown is a cool bar. Greektown has the most safe nightlife available.

Thank you all so much for all of the helpful advice!! I've made a list and we are going to try to get to as many of these places as possible! I'm actually starting to get excited about the trip! :) I do just have a few more quick questions...

1. Is the Four Points Sheridan Hotel (by Detroit Metro Airport) very nice?

2. Is there anything to do in Fling? Day or night life?

3. How far is Flint from Detroit (airport and/or downtown area)?

THANKS AGAIN!

Not sure about places in Flint, but Frankenmuth is about 30 miles north of Flint which is a great place to visit.

The drive to downtown Detroit and to the Metro Detroit Airport which is in Romulus is both a little over an hour.
