Logan airport to MV FERRY

There are three of us flying from LAX, destination MV ferry in late September or early October. What is the most cost efficient way to travel. RI or Boston? Car service, taxi, rental or bus to ferry?

How long are you planning to stay? Will you need a car in MV?

You can fly into TF Green in Rhode Island & take a shuttle to the Vineyard Fast Ferry which is about 15 minutes from the airport. The ferry takes 1 hour and 40 minutes The shuttle is $32.10 r/t The ferry is $79.00 r/t

As for your other options - you can take the Peter Pan bus line from Logan in Boston to the Steamship Authority Ferry Woods Hole. It will take 2 hours & 25 minutes on the bus, and 45 minutes on the ferry The cost is $40.00 r/t.; ferry tix are $16.00 r/t

As for a car rental, it depends on if you want a car when you are on the island, you don't necessarily need one but you would get the most out of your visit if you had one. In addition to the cost of the car, you would need to consider the cost of the car ferry - which is dependent on the size of the vehicle.

You would have to call some car services to get accurate quotes, both airports' webpages have contact information for doing so.

All of the above info is spot on

Will just add taxi likely out of the question

Plymouth and Brockton bus line is another choice to get from boston airport to Hyannis with much more frequency and cheaper rate than Peter Pan

Not sure if they go to woods hole or just Hyannis though

Car service likely would cost $150 or so one way from either Logan or TF Green airport to the ferry, the distance/drive time is very similar

Having a car on MV can be very helpful so first need to figure that out and if so an airport rental car is an obvious option ferry ticket for your car is quite expensive and you must book that in advance for both ways

You don't want to get stuck on the island because that can and does happen, the car spaces fill up fast

If you are staying in an in-town location, and in a down island town, you can use the Vta ....a convenient, 7.00 daily bus that takes bikes, etc. and you can just hop on and off. MANY vacationers find this to be a great way to travel. If you are coming back to your accomodations very late at night you will have to take a taxi home.
