restaurants/activities/beaches

We are renting a house on the vineyard near vineyard haven for a week in August. Looking for suggestion on restaurants, activities and best beaches. We have two kids - 17 and 14.

The best fish market called the Net Result in Vineyard Haven is also one of the best places for reasonably priced, good take out for lunch or dinner. Black Dog restaurant is good for breakfast. On the extra high end Sweet Life Cafe in Oak Bluffs or Atria in Edgartown are good. Zapotec has okay Mexican food, (wouldn't go to Sharky's). Best pizza is Giordanos! Go to as many different beaches as you can. If you have $75 per person you can do a daysail on the Arabella to Cuttyhunk which is a beautiful and interesting place.

Be sure to hit south beach for big Atlantic waves. Also, be sure to watch the sunset from the beach in Aquinnah. There is a small take-out seafood restaurant (sorry, can't remember the name) just up the hill that is great for a beach picnic dinner. Have fun!

Just got back. Heard Detente is the best restaurant on the island this summer. Check the beach at Menemsha as well.

Thanks for the suggestions we are off tomorrow. Will definitely try Net Results. We have a reservation at Detente already - we are renting a house from the brother of Detente's owner so he gave us the reco - good to hear that reinforced by cuthbert.

Tried to book a trip on Arabella but they sold it recently. Instead we are doing the sunset cruise on the tall ship Alabama (hope it is not too crowded)
