2 nights in OC/1 in Virginia beach..or vice versa?

Hello,

We are 4 adults late 30s-early 40s form UK visiting Virginia,Delaware,Maryland area during first 2 weeks in September.

After Richmnond we will travel to Virginia Beach and then up to Ocean City, before taking the ferry to New Jersey. So, originally we planned 2 nights in VB and 1 in OC, however we have now found a great deal for a 2 bedroom condo in Princess Royal OC and are now considering just 1 night in VB and 2 in OC.

So, is this a good plan, is there plenty to do in OC, including shopping, restaurants, walks, attractions etc?

Thanks ,Wayne.

There's plenty to see and do here in OC, see Post #3 for some ideas: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g41298-i101-k63954…

Assateague Island, with its wild ponies, is only a 15 minute drive. Check out the 'Things to Do' tab above and also some of momoo's very informative posts. She a Destination Expert.

IMO, I would skip VB altogether and spend all 3 nights here. I visited VB a few years ago, I wasn't impressed. I much prefer Ocean City for its diversities. (I'm from here so I'm a little prejudice).

OC is about 2.5 hrs from the Bridge Tunnel. .

I have to agree with ocpony. I also went to VA beach once and was not impressed. I have never even considered returning. OC has so much to do, is so clean and just a all around great place! I have been going to OC my entire life and can still always find new and exciting things to do!

Make that a third for 3 nights in OC. Just the traffic alone getting into VB is insane enough to make me never want to return. There is just so much to do and see in and around Ocean City that you'll never see or do everything you want to in just 4 days. Plus there are free events all summer long like movies on the beach, fireworks, concerts, and more! And there is everything from sea sports, the boardwalk , laser tag, amusement parks, ice skating, mini golf and more to a casino and horse race track! Check out Ocean City's official website at www.ococean.com and see what all is going on

I was thinking the same thing as momoo, just stay at Ocean City, plenty to do and see. Why waste a day in travel when you can be enjoying the day on the beach, shopping or taking in some views from one of the many bayside restaurants.

Thanks guys for all your ideas. Will the weather be nice in early/mid September?

Yes, the weather is usually quite nice, 22-30 C, evenings 15-25 C. The ocean has warmed up quite nicely too. Of course, there's no way to guarantee the weather. As your visit nears, check www.weatherundergound.com as their forecast seems a little more accurate than others. That website also will give you historic averages.
