Disclosure: I don't know which of the Maine forums to post in but thought this might be a good place.
We have three days:
Day 1: (really a night) We are going to book a flight to Bangor which will arrive around midnight at which time we need to pick up a car and go to our hotel room. We won't mind driving up to one hour that night. Where should we stay?
Days 2, 3, 4 - these are the must dos:
b) Bar Harbor
c) Acadian NP (three or four hours) - place that does the puffin tour on the water somewhere
d) sunrises as many as possible in nice places
f) Bangor (don't want to do the full Stephen King tour because don't have that much time even though I have heard wonderful things, but want to drive out to a few notable places ourselves)
g) Stop in late one night or early one morning to the 24 hour LLBean
h)Take a nice walk in Ogunquit
Remember, we are on the go travellers and want to get an idea about Maine, perhaps to come back to one or two areas another time. Anytime we're on a boat, that is relaxing for us. That mail boat ride that goes around the islands is also something we'd like to do.
Day 5 - hope to be leaving from Portland by 11am
I am thinking we should go north first and then go south since we'll be flying out of Boston (will have a couple of days there).
