Want to visit Natchitoches and surrounding area, but when the weather is cooler.
We'd like to see Toledo Bend and Hodges Gardens while there and wonder if we should visit in the fall or maybe wait until next spring.
Suggestions appreciated!

It's always nice to visit Nachitoches during the Christmas festival going on throughout December, but the flowers are probably the nicest when the azaleas peak in March-April. Note that the website says some of the fountains, etc. are at diminished capacity right now due to the drought up that way - you may want to call to get an update about that situation before trekking up there. Same goes for water levels in Toledo Bend.
Autumn is always fine here, Oct/Nov, but part of that is just that it won't be 105 degrees anymore. Highway61 has a good point about the flowers - spring is perhaps the finest season here in Natchitoches. And there may even be some water in the Cane River, after winter rains. Right now, the water levels are way down, and the bottom is exposed along the banks - it's pretty ugly, I'm afraid. Go for Spring!
Thanks for the info.
Think we'll wait until Spring.
Maybe some R&R in Tunica this fall.
