Which downtown hotel?

My husband and I are thinking about a weekend getaway to downtown Louisville. It will be for one night (Sat.). We’ve never been there, so need suggestions on which hotel to choose. We’ll probably just stroll around in the evening then find something to eat. Probably breakfast Sun. in (or near) the hotel. We want something nice, but within safe walking distance. Any recommendations?

If it's in your budget, no better location than the Galt House.

Thanks, Bavaria. The Galt House looks wonderful, but they don't have any rooms available for the night we're going. Got a second choice?

I am coming down for the Derby this year and staying at the Galt Hotel for seven nights. Parking seems expensive there. Is there anywhere you can recommend to leave my car for a week?? I won't be needing the car during my stay. Thanks.

Unfortunately during Derby $12 a day is actually a pretty good deal for parking, I doubt you'll find anything much cheaper in a safe area.

Marriott Downtown is great, clean, services is perfect. Galt House new building is alright but I used to stay in junior suite, it is pretty old and has dust smell from carpet I think. Hilton is good too, right by forth street live but if you like cool style hotel then 21C , it is neat and very artistic.
