what to do in evansville

There isn't much at all. If you think malls and movies theaters are great then come on over. Every city has a mall and movie theater, most had IMAX. Nashville, St. Louis, and Louisville are so close with real things to do. Just go there, they are close enough to do something in a day.

We are looking at Evansville and it looks really nice on the web site...lots of hotels and restaurants. We want to visit the LST.

I think Evansville is a great city and has a lot to offer. I've lived in Ohio, Michigan, New York, and now Indiana. I like the layout of Evansville, you can have easy access to the shopping and restaurants, and still live in an area that doesn't feel 'busy'. While I don't agree with the move of Robert's Stadium to downtown (the old location was smarter, easier to access, and the arena seemed larger for monster truck shows, etc), we do have shows if that's what you enjoy doing. I find that a lot of people who complain about where they live have never lived anywhere else and don't have much to compare it to. Evansville is a nice city and is accessible to so many other places if you want to make a day trip to Nashville, Louisville, or St. Louis.

You've got a cool courthouse. Loved the stained glass ceiling.

Angel Mounds is nearby. So is New Harmony.

Evansville does offer gambling, if you are into that sort of thing. I always enjoyed the Casino Aztar, since it was my first gambling experience and I normally do pretty well with the penny slots. I don't see why someone would discourage someone from Evansville. The city is worth a drive, for the great food, and stores. The mall is packed with normal chain locations and some unique stores and the food court is great too! The zoo is a great attraction that many enjoy, as well as the historical LST ship. Evansville also is home to college sports teams, if you want to catch some sports. They also have concerts and other activities at the Ford Center.

Evansville -

The LST is a great attraction. The zoo is nice. Plenty of dining options, chains a plenty but also some local options - the Gerst Haus and Acropolis are locally owned and a nice change from this steak place or that pasta joint.

The Ford Center - for a hockey or basketball game - wonderful venue. For a music act - do NOT - repeat NOT - ever pay for floor seats. Sardines have more room. Worst concert experience ever ( and I've been stomped on in mosh pits).

Folks this poster (troll?) started this thread about 15 months ago (and I'll point out hasn't contributed to TA since then).

I suggest that if you wish to extol the virtues of Evansville and give visitors suggestions/ideas of things to do, you might want to just start a whole new thread of "things to do in Evansville" or some similar title rather than tacking them on the end of this thread that starts out with such a negative vibe.

Just an idea,

hlo
