Tybee is another beach - a little more like classic beaches of years past. It will certainly be nothing like HH. You might try just going back like yesterday, but stop and stroll in downtown Beaufort. Also, you passed Penn Center on St Helena Island on your way to Hunting Island. It's a great place to learn about African American history and is well interpreted. For someplace relaxing and peaceful, take a side trip the the Sheldon Church ruins.
Thanks for your advice! We were planning on going back to visit Beaufort. The downtown is so charming (as we saw driving through with a sleeping baby!). If time allows, we may try to see those others sites as well. Thanks again.
Depends on when you are going, and what you are going to see. If you are going to Tybee for the beach, I would say no, and choose Savannah over Tybee (the beach/ocean are the same that you have in Hilton Head). If you want to see the town, it will be different than HHI, but I still think Savannah has more to offer.
