car rental over christmas time

I have been checking car rental prices December 23-Jan 1 and they are almost quadruple other weeks. is it likely these will drop as the time comes closer.

Keep in mind this is high season time, and a big week to visit so not certain how much teh price will drop I would also check Groupon and Living Social sites as well to see if any car rental deals are ever posted. That may help.
