Family Friendly Activities & Restaurant Recommendations

We will be traveling over Easter break (April) with our daughter (9) and our friends & their child (3). We're staying in Treasure Island. I'd like some recommendations for family friendly activities (in case the weather isn't great) and restaurants. I saw a dolphin watching charter - is that worth it or will we likely see dolphins in general? Thanks!!

John's Pass is probably the most family friendly place in Treasure Island. Plenty of shopping, restaurants, and attractions.

There is a dolphin charter at John's Pass, but I would also recommend the Dolphin Racer at nearby South Pasadena

You will likely also see alligators in their natural habitat at Sawgrass Lake (it's free)

You can definitely see dolphins without taking a boat. If you check out the gulf or the bay there will be dolphins playing all day long. Johns Pass has an Alligator attraction that I have not been to, but have heard it's fun. Depending on the exact schedule, you could also check out a Tampa Bay Rays game (indoors).

There is usually a large water slide on the beach which the kids like. Also, if you don't mind driving to Clearwater Beach, there is the aquarium where Winter the Dolphin resides from the movie Dolphin Tale. There are all kinds of different cruises you can take from John's Pass and after a cruise, our 9 year old always wants to hit up Bubba Gump restaurant. Also, the restaurant at the Bilmar serves kids meals with a fun flashing drink cup thy get to take home with them.

We like to take a walk to the Shake Shop or Snowballs for our evening treat.

Try Florida Pirate Adventures on the Treasure Island side of Johns Pass. It is an authentic Pirate ship [the keel was laid in 1870] and is crewed by actual Pirates who live the shipboard life and know Pirate history [as opposed to guys in Costumes hired off the street]. They have actual Cannon and Small arms [as opposed to airguns and water cannons]. All of this and they are quite Family Friendly and have been doing Family Friendly Pirate Faires for about a decade outside the Cruise business. Depending on the day you can have Pirate story time with Innocent,... Pirate Sea Shanties ,.... Ship to Ship cannon battles,.... and much more. Check out their FB page under Florida Pirate Adventures for more info.
