Is Sarasota the right place... |
|
Me and 3 friends (aged 24-25) are planning a trip to Flordia at the end of August. Due to the cheap airfare deals we can get from Buffalo to Sarasota ($160 return), is Sarasota a good place to vist for a week if we are looking for the following things?? -nice, clean beaches - somewhat of a decent nightlife (meaning nightclubs and or bars with people around our ages) - friendly locals Also, is there any places you could suggest to go to at night? We will be probably staying at a resort on Seista Key, but will be using Taxi cabs to get around at night! Thank You in advance PS if sarasota is not a place for us, where in FL would be? (other than Miami Beach) |

Siesta Key has the best beaches on the SW coast of Florida. There are clubs in Siesta Village, Southside Village and downtown Sarasota. It will depend on what you consider a decent nightlife. This isn't Key West or South Beach...if you get my drift. The Beach Club, Siesta Key Oyster Bar, Daquiri Deck in Siesta Village. Five O'Clock Club, Big Sugar, The Table (Mesa Lounge) and others in Southside Village. Gecko's and others on the mainland, too. Gator Club, Mattisons and many others on Main Street in downtown Sarasota. Locals are friendly..you have found hostile locals???Where??? tell us so we can avoid these places. Staying at a resort on Siesta Key... you understand that there aren't any full service resorts on Siesta Key. There are plenty of places to stay that are really nice. Late August is very "off season" so rates are at their lowest. The most crowded months are Feb-April (Spring Break) Another place? Key West, but the beaches aren't great. ~SRQgirl

SRQGirl-What do you think about Ft. Lauderdale for that age group?
|
SRQgir thanks for all your info and I will take it into consideration when i am making my final choice!
|
For your age group ... definitely Ft. Liquordale (LOL!) is better than Siesta Key.
|
That's what I thought, chuts, but didn't want to misguide her! I loved Ft. Lauderdale but we didn't go clubbing so I wasn't sure. Beautiful beaches there, too.

LOL.. Good one, Chuts.... haven't heard the term Ft. Liquordale in years. (Since I used to go to the She Club with fake I.D.!!) Yep, underwhelmed, you would probably be happier with the party scene on the east coast. (Don't know why, but I assumed this was a guy..) Hate to lead 20 somethings down that short path to sin..;-) ~SRQgirl (formerly from Miami and other wild places)

I guess I showed my age with that one, SRQ. Ha ha.

But I plead innocence to knowing where the movie, "Where The Boys Are" was made. LOL.

I'm a 23yr old guy who lives in Sarasota, and I think this would be a fun place for you to visit. If you really want night life till 4-5am Ft. Lauderdale is a great place, but Sarasota is relaxing with something to do just about everynight. Wednesday through Sunday there is ussualy something pretty decent happening, and we also just had a new lounge open at the Rustic Grill.
