Hello- Can someone please tell me about the area around Ocean's Reach? Is it in a more "congested" area of the island? Or more sparse as far complexes around it? We enjoyed our first trip to Sanibel this past July sooo much(despite the rain:) that my husband and I have planned our 20th anniversary trip to Sanibel this next spring! We stayed at Pointe Santo and LOVED it, but since it will just be my husband and I, we were looking for a little less expensive 1 BR. I liked the location of P.S. and am just wondering if O.R. is just as nice(want peaceful, more quiet beach area with a pool). Also, has anyone stayed in unit 3X3 or 1B4 (VRBO)? Thanks alot for the help!

Hi,

can't help with your specific condos (we had 4B3) but will tell you the area and beach should be nice and peaceful although there is a small public acccess beach (Algiers)nearer to block 1 with BBQ's. Never saw anybody there but that was in Sept.

The pool is a bit on the small side though nicely maintained but as you are only a few steps from the ocean that shouldn't matter too much.

The area in front of the complex is simply natural- no landscaping whilst behind the parking area the grounds are more maintained with some BBQ's, a tennis court and shuffle board.

We loved it and would recommend to anybody.

Ocean's Reach was closed for nearly 2 years after Charley while the condos were completely redone, so none are 'old'. I was there in prime season last year to look things over and even then, very quiet. Nuch quieter than Pointe Santo area. Next big complex would be Casa ybel to the west and there's none to the east, just the park, as Dews said. West is Golden Beach - only 4 condos - and I think a few private homes. It is a very popular place.

FYI: If you loved Pointe Santo and are looking for a smaller less expensive room, there is a 1 bedroom Pointe Santo unit though VIP that might fit the bill:

We stayed at OR's in April and loved it- it was not crowded or noisy. Our condo was very nicely decorated and I loved how much storage (in condo and fact have private storage for beach stuff by car) we had. And we had good shelling right in front of the condo. I loved our condo and how close we were to the beach. I also happen to like the natural feel versus a more manicured grounds. There were families with small children at the pool but it was never out of control and we tended to use at times they were not there anyway. When picking a condo I would suggest not being directly behind the pool- it will be quieter for you. Enjoy wherever you stay!

I just love Ocean's Reach. I always stay in 1C2. Just love the beautiful kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances! I usually go 3 times a year for a week at a time.

I will be coming (hopefully) to Sanibel on Sept 2 for 4 nights but will be staying with a friend who has a private home on the island.

I will be back to Ocean's Reach for a week in Jan 2009!
