Hello all. I am slowly narrowing down my travel plans for this November. We are thinking of staying 2 nights on sanibel island. I was looking at the sanibel collection hotel group. We are a couple with 2 younger children and are looking for a recommendation. We are wanting quiet, relaxing, and affordable. I know the sundial is geared towards families, but we don't like that there is no free breakfast and they charge for umbrellas and bicycles. Plus the reviews are so-so. I think the Seaside Inn or the Song of the Seas sound the best??? I would love ANY suggestions. My children are not loud and after a 10 day Disney stint, we are wanting to relax and dig in the sand. |

OK, I made reservations at the Seaside Inn. It was a little cheaper than the Song of the Seas... not much, but I'll be coming from Disney! I called and talked to them and found out some info. that might be of use for other families. First, they said that only some of the "homes" part of the Sundial resort are privately owned. All of the "rooms" are centrally owned. Some of the postings made reference to room ownership and varying quality... Also, only the Sundial charges for bike/chair/umbrella use. And, supposedly, the child bike carriers mentioned on the Sanibel Inn site are available at all of the sites upon request.

As far as I know, all units at Sundial are privately owned. Each is decorated and maintained by individual owners. There are no (motel) rooms there. Most units are in the Sundial rental program where the bookings are exclusively made through the Sundial resort itself. Renting through the resort is more expensive but rates include access to all resort facilities. There are a number of units not in the central program that are available directly from owners or through any of the rental agencies on Sanibel. They are usually much less expensive to rent but you need to pay a daily fee to the resort if you want to use the main pool and other amenities.

inhayden, You'll love the Seaside Inn. Your husband will have to get up and head out for breakfast though if he wants something hot; unfortunately he'll have to drive as there really aren't any restaurants within reasonable walking distance of the Inn. I suppose he could put a bagel in the toaster, but I have a feeling that's not what he wants! The saltwater pool is nice, and even though it's saltwater, you can open your eyes underwater without any problems. The Inn is RIGHT on the beach and assuming you have nice weather, you'll be able to easily get to the beach and just as easily leave when you need to. We LOVE the Seaside Inn, and I can't wait to go back.

Island inn is in a good location with quite extensive grounds. A varied choice of accomodations and as sunny says they do have meal plans -Nov 15 onwards. Pool was very small but you are right on the beach so that shouldn't matter too much. Hope you get sorted soon.
