HELP .... what to do in the pompano beach area

I bringing my family (my parents, my wife and our 11 month old) down to Pampano beach the week of June 7th. We are renting a co-workers condo. We are walking distance to the casino (which is the reason my mom is going) but what else is there to do??? What should we see ??? We will have a car and GPS so getting around isn't a problem but where should we go ?? My wife and I were in Lauderdale by the Sea earlier this year before a cruise and we really liked that area, just walking around having ice cream and souvenier shopping, but I can't stretch that out for an entire week .. Help !!! Many thanks to all in advance.

What kind of things do you like to do? Fish, swim, beach, shop, surf, snorkel, etc?

Swimming at the beach and shopping are tops on the wifes wish list. As for my parents they would like to find a nice relaxing place to take a walk with their grandson, either along the beach or at a park or zoo, or nature center. And as for me I just want everybody to be relaxed and happy.

Send the grandchild and his grandparents to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center-

www.gumbolimbo.org

It's just a little north of LBTS in Boca Raton and has a lovely area for strolling and displays of sea life . Butterfly World up in Deerfield would be a nother lovely outing.

You'll also probably want to do a boat ride on the canals- either

www.carriebcruises.com

which is about an hour and a half ride and takes off from Las Olas Blvd, just south of Jackson's Steakhouse or the Water Taxi-

I think Carrie B would be better considering your child- they have an air conditioned cabin and plenty of room to walk around with a toddler - while water taxi has fixed seating and you'd have to keep the child in your lap.

The Friday newspaper ( Sun Sentinel)entertainment section often has a buy one get one coupon for Carrie B and sometimes a discount for Butterfly World as well.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Excellent info, I hope and expect all the people in the area to be as friendly as you, I love to get the hometowner's views about a new place, it makes it all that more enjoyable to know where to ~really~ go !!!

Hey if you don't mind just one more quick question ... The day that we leave (June 13th) the space shuttle is scheduled to launch at about 7:30 AM, our flight is at 12:30 PM so not alot of time to get up the coast and back, what can we expect to be able to hear/see in Pompano, anything ???? Just wondering

Many thanks again ...
