vacation with twin 2 yr olds, anything to do?

I'm planning a possible vacation near Pensacola. We are on a tight budget but need to escape the cold.. We enjoy water, nature, parks, horseback riding, gardens, animals, a family friendly beach...does the Pensacola area sound promising, or should I look elsewhere? Specific names of places that we could go would help. Not so much interested in fancy restaurants, or museums. Thanks!

Your 2-yr-olds might be a bit too young, but if they like airplanes, the Naval Air Museum could be entertaining...and it's free!

You can take them for a bike ride in Downtown Pensacola. Or rent some a bike with a trailor and take them up to the Milton Heritage Trails. Or the Zoo is always fun. Plenty of kid friendly restaurants: Flounders, Peg Leg Pete's, The East Hill Yard. You can take a day trip to Gulf Shores to their zoo and LuLu's out there is kid friendly. And then the beach!!! What two year old doesn't love playing in the sand? Do it!!! You'll love it here.

Take them to Perdido Key where you can visit Big Lagoon State Park which is the only place in the area that has wild alligators (if you can find them) and has several nice trails. In the same area is the gulf island national seashore ($3 for access to all national seashores) where they can pull sand fleas (crustaceans) out of the surf, look for sand crabs on the beach and collect seashells and sand dollars. Go to the bay side and you can easily find hermit crabs. The Blue Angels frequently fly over this are as well. In Gulf Breeze at the navl live oaks visitor center, you can hunt for blue crabs in shallow water, they are pretty easy to catch, just make sure you bring a net to catch them. The pier at Pensacola beach ($1.50 per adult) gives nice views of the water and they can watch people fishing, the water is so clear you can see fish swim by as well as turtles and sharks if you are lucky.
