Best Location

We are the family of 4, 2 adults and 2 adult teenagers. What part of Panama Beach is best for us to stay in? We have never been to PB and know very little about the locale. Also, any idea on activities?

Thanks!

The area near Pier Park is probably the most popular these days...Front Beach Road, toward the west end. The Pier Park complex has alot to do (shopping, dining, movie theatre, etc).

There is also a wide array of boat excursions to choose from out of Captain Anderson's Marina, which is just a short drive away (Sea Screamer is my personal favorite:)

Lots of good restaurants are nearby...and of course, the beach is the main attraction:)

Thanks for the response. It looks like I can get similar pricing for Celadon, Sunset and Calypso, with Calypso being a bit more expensive. Any pros and cons for each?

Thanks again!

Calypso is directly across from Pier Park, which many consider a big perk. There are no hot tubs there, which may or may not be an issue for you. Otherwise, very nice.

Celadon and Sunrise are probably going to be a little less busy than Calypso because of Calypso's prime location. Otherwise, they should be comparable. Celadon is a little older than Sunrise, but still fairly new (2003-2005 or so). It is also a little farther west than the others, so a little quieter traffic-wise but you have to park across the street in the deck and cross via the catwalk (whereas Sunrise has parking under the building).

Calypso has the across the street cat-walk access as well.

If you choose Sunrise, I would recommend the higher floors. Some of the lower floors there have partial view obstructions due to the way the pool/parking deck protrude out toward the beach. But, that isn't an issue on the higher floors.

We stay at Celedon, but don't have kids. We like it because it is a little cheaper than Calypso and it is the last high rise on the west end.

You do have to park across the street, but it really isn't a hassle. We have never had a problem getting a luggage cart.

There is a large indoor/outdoor pool across the street. There is a small pool on the beach side.

We have never had to wait a long time for an elevator at Celedon.

You would have to get in the car to go anywhere other than Alvin's Island...whereas at Calypso, you could walk to Pier Park.
