I think a character breakfast would be a great way to start the fun. Are your boys Winnie the Pooh fans or Mickey Mouse? I think Crystal Palace feature 100 Acre Wood characters and Chef Mickey features Mickey and other Disney characters.

I think the boys would prefer Mickey Mouse etc but I know they would love to go to MK on the first morning so it will need to be a compromise somewhere .

Chef Mickey is in the contemporary hotel which is right by magic kingdom :)

We did Tusker House at Animal Kingdom on our first morning last time and plan to do the same next day. An easy park to begin with which requires less rushing around than Magic Kingdom

We've done it a few times knowing the children will be up early, the most exciting way to start your holiday! I vote Chef Mickeys!

We did the breakfast at Chef Mickey's the first morning of my kids' first visit to Disney. It really was a nice way to start things out.

Thanks for the replies , if we book Chef Mickey's will we be able to get to the resort using Disney transport ? as I said we have been before so I don't know the layout of the area

Yes you get the bus to Magic Kingdom then you can walk to Contemporary Resort from there, 5 mins max. Port Orleans to Magic Kingdom takes around 20 minutes by bus.

Chef Mickey's is a perfect way to start the holiday and something I've done on a few occasions on the first morning (and I'm always off site). You'll usually get all the big hitters (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald) and it's perfectly located for making the short walk to the MK entrance (though the monorail stop is within the hotel if you prefer).
